The Senior PGA will be held in Rochester, at Oak HIll Country Club on May 23-26, 2019. Kitchenaid is sponsoring the event. There will be multiple celebrity chefs in attendance, giving cooking demonstrations.

Among the famous names are Chef Stephanie Izard, from Food Network, Chef Steve Eakins from Radio School, Chef Tom Colicchio co-founder of Gramercy Tavern in New York, Chef Joe Zolnierowski, from Nosh, Chef Alex Guarnaschelli of Food Network, among others. A pretty impressive list.

During the media event, Chef Christopher Roth, from Oak Hill Country Club and Chef Joe Zolnierowski, did demonstrations, as well.

Chef Christopher made these Belgium Waffles. He served them with smoked salmon eggs Benedict, which I really want to try! They were so delicious!

Chef Joe did an Apple Jack Pancake, which I will feature later in the month! That was equally delicious!

During the event there was also a fun, friendly competition. Two teams tried to make the longest pasta sheet! 🙂 It was a draw, one taking points for being the longest and one for perfection.

If you have been following BCC for a while, you know that I own quite a few KitchenAid gadgets, my mixer being the most beloved! I have lots of attachments that help me do a variety of jobs, the juicer, grinder, sausage stuffer, slicer, and bread hook.

I have always been going to buy the pasta maker attachment, I would really like to make my own pasta! The only fear being, that once I make homemade pasta, it will ruin dry pasta for me for life! 😂 Check out KitchenAid to get information on all of their products!

What are Belgian Waffles?

Belgian Waffles originated at the Brussel’s World Fair in 1958. Traditional Belgian Waffles are made with yeast, not with baking powder for the leavening.

That is what gives them their fluffy texture. This article from Chowhound goes into more detail. If you let the dough rest overnight, as I did in this Belgian Waffles Recipe, the dough gets extra volume and is super light!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, leaving room for expansion since the mixture will rise.

  • Stir to combine; it’s OK if mixture isn’t perfectly smooth.

  • Cover with plastic wrap, and let rest at room temperature for 1 hour; the mixture will begin to bubble. You can cook waffles at this point, or refrigerate batter overnight and cook waffles the next day.

  • Preheat waffle iron. Spray, if needed. Pour 1/2 to 3/4 cup batter onto the center of the iron. (Do this according to manufacturer's directions). Close the lid. Bake for recommended amount of time until waffle is golden brown. It took mine about 12 minutes.

  • Serve and enjoy.
